Pop prodigy and NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” Season 11 winner Grace VanderWaal will perform the Mohawk Valley Community College Cultural Series Spring 2018 signature concert at the College’s Utica Campus.
VanderWaal, whose first full-length album, “Just the Beginning” was released last week, will perform at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 24, in the Jorgensen Athletic and Event Center at the College’s Utica Campus. Tickets, which will cost $20 for the general public and $15 for MVCC employees, will go on sale at noon Monday, Dec. 4, at www.mvcc.edu/tickets<https://www.mvcc.edu/tickets>. A limited number of free tickets will be available for MVCC students.
Hailed by Rolling Stone as a “pop prodigy” and pegged as “the next Taylor Swift” by Simon Cowell, VanderWaal is one of the most exciting names in music today. Upon skyrocketing to fame after winning the last season of NBC’s top-rated AGT and releasing the best-selling EP “Perfectly Imperfect,” VanderWaal is a singer-songwriter in the truest sense of the term with a distinct knack for capturing emotion with her trademark smoky voice and ukulele.
Tickets for all Cultural Series events can be purchased in person at the MVCC Box Office, Information Technology Building room 106, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday-Friday, and at the College Stores on the Utica and Rome Campuses; online any time at www.mvcc.edu/tickets<https://www.mvcc.edu/tickets>; or over the phone by calling 315-731-5721. Most Cultural Series events are $5 or less to the general public and many are free. Events include concerts, comedians, lectures, film screenings and discussions, workshops, family fun events, and more. The Cultural Series is brought to you by MVCC’s Cultural Events Council, in collaboration with MVCC’s Program Board, with significant support from the Student Activity Fee. The series maintains a major social media presence that can be followed on Facebook at “MVCC Cultural Series.” For the complete series lineup and ticket sales, visit www.mvcc.edu/culture<https://www.mvcc.edu/culture>.
