After the very successful launch of the Youth Summer Theater Camp in 2019, Arts at the Palace is pleased to announce the number of workshops has tripled for 2020. These workshops are supported by grants from NBT Bank and The Mid-York Foundation.
Summer Youth Improv Theater Workshop
Monday – Friday, July 6th – 10th || 1pm – 4pm
Grades 4th – 6th
Learn to laugh, play, and make it up as you go along! At the Summer Youth Improv Theater Workshop, students (grades 4th – 6th) will learn the basics of the art of improv through collaborative, game-based theater activities. Workshop sessions are 1pm – 4pm and are $150 per student (non-refundable). Space is limited.
Summer Youth Devised Theater Workshop
Monday – Friday, August 3rd – 7th || 1pm – 5pm
Grades 7th – 9th
How do you tell a story with no script? At the Summer Youth Devised Theater Workshop, students (grades 7th – 9th) will work together to learn how theater artists create an original work of theater from the ground up. Workshop sessions are 1pm – 5pm and are $150 per student (non-refundable). Space is limited.
Summer Youth Classical Acting Theater Workshop
Monday – Friday, August 10th – 14th || 1pm – 5pm
Grades 10th – 12th
At the Summer Youth Classical Acting Workshop, students (grades 10th – 12th) will get an introduction to the world of the Bard in this course. This course will include a primer on classical acting technique, as well as script analysis. Workshop sessions are 1pm – 5pm and are $150 per student (non-refundable). Space is limited.
Gwyneth Davies (instructor) is a born and raised Hamiltonian with a deep and abiding love for the performing arts in education. An alumna of Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, she discovered her passion for teaching while interning at the Boston University Summer Theatre Institute. Since first hitting the stage in the 2004 session of the Earlville Opera
House Circus Camp, Gwyneth has studied theatre arts, classical acting and improv at Boston University, the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts and the Upright Citizens Brigade. She is currently earning a Masters in Education at Lesley University in Cambridge.
