The Mohawk Valley Community College Strategic Gaming Club will host its annual Extra Life Weekend Saturday-Sunday, Nov. 9-10, in the first-floor lobby of Francis A. Wilcox Hall at the College’s Utica Campus. This 24-hour gaming marathon will benefit Extra Life, a grassroots movement that mobilizes gamers of all types to help Children’s Miracle Network hospitals treat sick and injured children. This is the seventh year the club has taken part in the Extra Life movement.

The marathon will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday and run through 8 a.m. Sunday. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, the club invites the public to join them in gaming and raising money in the Wilcox Hall lobby. Raffle tickets will be sold for chances to win a TV, Nintendo Switch, and other prizes. All proceeds will go to St. Luke’s Hospital through the Children’s Miracle Network. “Extra Life gives gamers a chance to take one of the things we love the most, playing games, and use them to help our local community,” said Melissa Barlett, Ph.D., associate professor in MVCC’s School of STEM and advisor to the Strategic Gaming Club. “The students really get excited about this event every year, and it’s their enthusiasm to help raise money ‘for the kids’ that makes this a success.”
