The 2019 winners of the Danforth and Marguerite Bolton Eagle Scout endowed scholarships have been announced: Alexander Babbie of Troop 9 in Edmeston, NY and Wynn Williams of Troop 31 in Maryland, NY.

For his Eagle Scout community service project, Alexander organized and led a group of volunteers to design and construct two 12’x8′ community garden boxes as well as two 8′ benches. Wynn updated the outdoor classroom at his school, Milford Central, to make it a multi-use space. He added a lattice wall and floor boxes with climbing flowers; built a mobile desk and storage unit and stained the entire structure.

Each year, approximately 65 new Eagle Scouts achieve BSA’s highest rank before their eighteenth birthday and cumulatively give more than 12,000 service hours to our community.

Known by everyone in the Oneonta community, Mr. Bolton was a banking CEO and Marguerite was a teacher with a passion for collecting sea shells and rocks. They shared a true passion for supporting Scouting and loved all that the Council programs offered its youth membership. Marguerite passed away at the age of 107 and endowed this fund with an eighty-seven thousand dollar bequest in 2011, making approximately 4% available each year since.
