Rome, NY, Immediate Release: -Each summer the Rome Art and Community
Center hosts an eight-week long day camp called ARTLETICS for the children of the City
of Rome and the surrounding area. ARTLETICS covers Fine Arts, which will help
children develop their artistic skills, athletics, which will teach campers how to be team
players while getting healthy and fit, and drama, which will help campers build self-
esteem and social skills. This year it runs Monday to Thursday from July 1 st until
August 22nd and is open to children 5 years of age up to 12 years of age. Each week
the activities are centered around a theme. The themes are listed below.
Week One: America
Week Two: Adventure
Week Three: Disney
Week Four: Harry Potter
Week Five: Nickelodeon
Week Six: Super Hero
Week Seven: Olympic
Week Eight: Animal Planet
In addition to those themes, we will also hold two – weeklong advance art classes
for full time older campers who are enrolled in ARTLETICS and are interested in art.
This advanced art program will be taught by two area Art teachers.
The 2019 session of Artletics is being run by returning counselor Hannah
Rotenberry. Hannah is a 2016 graduate of RFA currently attending St. John Fisher
where she is pursuing a teaching degree. The program will also be much more
structure this year. Each age group (5&6, 7&8, 9&10, 11&12) will have a main counselor who will be with them all summer. Each of these counselors is also
pursuing teaching degrees.
The cost of the camp is the same as last year. Members of the Rome Art and
Community Center receive a discount as do parents who pay in full by June 21st.
There is also limited tuition assistance for Rome residents who qualify. Anyone
