Bagel Grove Offers Limited-Edition Rainbow Bagels to Promote Autism Awareness
Utica, NY – After a successful launch in 2018, Bagel Grove is bringing back Limited-Edition Rainbow Bagels for Autism Awareness Month this April! All proceeds from every all-natural rainbow bagel sold will be donated to the Kelberman Center to support autism services for local families.
Rainbow bagels will only be available for purchase through pre-order or at the shop, Friday through Sunday of each week from Friday, April 5, through Sunday, May 5, 2019, coinciding with The Kelberman Center’s first and last Walks for Autism. Last year, Bagel Grove raised more than $1,200.00 for The Kelberman Center through rainbow bagel sales.
“We are incredibly grateful for Bagel Grove’s on-going support, not only fundraising but even more so for their commitment to creating opportunities for people with autism,” said Dr. Robert Myers, Executive Director of the Kelberman Center. “Currently, our team is working with Bagel Grove to develop new summer internships that we are very excited about and we know will be a win for everybody involved.”
It is estimated that 50,000 students with autism across the country age out of school-based services each year. Most of these young adults struggle to find employers that are accepting of the social and communication challenges that can become barriers to sustained employment, and the Kelberman Center is on a mission to engage community businesses like Bagel Grove ready to welcome these youngsters along with Kelberman support staff to new programs like this one.
“Here at Bagel Grove we care about building the community as much as we care about feeding it,” said owner Annie Wadsworth. “We are extremely excited about providing real-life work experience for those who need it, as well as offering our customers a chance to see and interact with folks from all walks of life.”
