WHAT: Celebrate National Wear Red Day and be a relentless force for women’s health at the Rome Go Red for Women Luncheon. The event is a time to celebrate women and empower them to improve their heart health. The luncheon is locally sponsored by Rome Memorial Hospital. The luncheon will feature a keynote presentation from Dr. Russell Silverman, a cardiologist with St. Joseph’s Health. Passion Speaker Cindy Hayes will share her story as the mother of a young heart disease and stroke survivor. Friday, February 1st will mark five years since her son was diagnosed at birth with a congenital heart defect.

WHY: Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women. National Wear Red Day is a day set aside to raise awareness of this killer and remind women to pay attention to their heart health. For 15 years, women have been fighting heart disease as part of the Go Red for Women movement.
