Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi of Utica tonight issued the following statement, reacting to a report published Monday in The New Yorker that four women have accused State Attorney General Eric Schneiderman of physically assaulting them:
“The allegations of physical abuse by Attorney General Eric Schneiderman are beyond troubling. New York cannot afford any delay in getting to the bottom of the truth, swiftly. I am calling on AG Schneiderman to resign immediately and fully cooperate with a fact-finding probe by the State.
We must heed the courage of these brave women and exclaim that physical violence—in any context—is simply inexcusable. Period. An AG must embody the law, not break it. I hope the Attorney General does the right thing and soon.”—Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi
