Utica Public Library Essay Contest
A paid, full-time summer internship with the Utica Public Library is open to current high school juniors and seniors in Herkimer and Oneida counties. The student will have the opportunity to see how the modern public library functions as a vital community organization. To be considered, applicants must submit an essay of 1,500 words or less explaining the benefit of growing up in the Utica area, how it has influenced the person they’ve become, and how it has shaped their worldview. The essay should also identify the students’ vision of what the Utica area can become in the future and what they can do to “give back” to the community to make that possible.
