UTICA Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative:
(Utica ESPRI): ESPRI is an investment in combating poverty and creating economic mobility for New Yorkers in 16 targeted cities with high poverty rates, bringing together human service agencies, community leaders, and people living in poverty to turn our story around – creating mobility for residents and advancing the common good for all.
About Work Groups:
The Utica Empire State Poverty Reduction Initiative Utica (Utica ESPRI) is moving from the organization stage, to a working group process that will review data, and examine the barriers, opportunities, and ideas that have been identified as necessary to reducing poverty in the Utica area. The process will lead to implementation of a major project to reduce poverty in the community. Work Groups consist of 20 community members, with half of them living at or below 250% of the federal poverty level.
To Participate In A Work Group:
Each participant will take a short 5 minute phone survey. Participants will be assigned to a Work Group based on their survey answers, interests, and/or experience in the Work Group topic.
Each Work Group will last one full day, from 9:00 am-4:00 pm, and will be catered. Transportation and Child Care will be available to those who indicate on their survey that it will be needed.
