The WISE (Women in Science and Engineering) group at Mohawk Valley Community College will host its third annual Girls in STEM Expo on Saturday, April 8, in the Alumni College Center room 116 on the Utica campus. Admission is $10 to cover the cost of lunch (need-based scholarships are available).
This innovative one-day event is designed to introduce girls in grades 9 through 12 to opportunities in the historically male-dominated fields of engineering and science.
The expo will start promptly at 9 a.m. with keynote speaker Devin Sonne, MVCC STEM alumni and environmental engineering student at the University of Rochester. Participants then will have the opportunity to engage in STEM explorations as small groups. The program will offer hands-on activities and demonstrations in physical sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, geology), technology, and math designed specifically to encourage young women to pursue studies in these areas. Lunch will be provided.
Seating is limited, so registration is required. To register, visit https://cced-reg.mvcc.edu<https://cced-reg.mvcc.edu/>. For more information, contact Melissa Barlett at 315.792.5471 or firstname.lastname@example.org<mailto:email@example.com>.
